About the Role

We are excited to be working alongside a well-established trust in West Somerset who are looking for a Geriatric Consultant to join their department on a fixed term or substantive contract.

The hospital has two further wards currently badged as ‘general medicine’, but they are aware that most patients on these wards are in fact frail older people who need specialist geriatric MDT care, the expansion plan will see one or more of these wards brought into the COOP fold, alongside improvement in subspecialties in line with the interests of successful applicants.
Most of the COOP consultants contribute to the general medical on-call rota, and they would expect any new appointees with qualification in General Internal Medicine to join this rota. However, they plan to move to a separate 7/7 frailty rota to which all geriatricians will be able to contribute.
Requirements
•  Full GMC Registration
•  MRCP UK

The trust is happy to consider candidates with the following experience:
•  Consultants from overseas that have experience in Geriatric Medicine. CESR support can be provided.
•  Or UK experience at registrar level for at least 2 years looking to step up to locum consultant. (This can be in GIM, Acute or Geri’s). Again, CESR support can be provided.

The area offers all local amenities including many restaurants, cinemas etc
There is also easily accessible transport into nearby cities and is less than two hours from London via train
