About the Role

Im currently working with a leading NHS Trust, is seeking a highly skilled Stroke Service Consultant to join their dynamic stroke team on a NHS fixed term contact. This is a unique opportunity to work within an integrated stroke service across the South and Central Nottinghamshire region, in collaboration with the University Trust. The Stroke Service admits approximately 600 patients with confirmed strokes each year and offers an out-of-hours thrombolysis service in partnership with the University Trust.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide expert clinical care to patients in the Stroke Unit, covering acute, rehabilitation, and hyperacute care.
  • Ensure delivery of thrombolysis treatment 24/7 and participate in the acute stroke on-call rota.
  • Participate in the Stroke Unit weekend cover alongside colleagues.
  • Offer support for the acute medical on-call, depending on your skills and experience.
  • Work closely with a multi-disciplinary team including specialist nurses, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, and speech and language therapists to provide holistic care.
  • Play an active role in stroke research, working alongside the full-time stroke research nurse to recruit patients for various studies.
  • Contribute to the development of the service, helping to implement strategies in line with Trust and National guidelines.
Key Clinical Areas:
  • Hyperacute and Acute Stroke Care: Provide direct clinical input to patients admitted to the Stroke Unit, including thrombolysis and thrombectomy procedures.
  • TIA/Neurovascular Clinic: Work with the stroke unit to manage TIA patients and collaborate with the University Trust TIA Clinic at weekends.
  • Integrated Community Stroke Service (ICSS): Support the community rehabilitation team, ensuring patients discharged from the unit receive optimal rehabilitation.
Clinical Duties:
  1. Provide safe, effective, and efficient clinical care to patients.
  2. Oversee administrative tasks related to patient care, service delivery, and performance management.
  3. Contribute to service development, strategy, and planning in collaboration with the Service Director and management team.
  4. Ensure clinical duties are performed to the highest possible standard in line with Trust quality initiatives.
  5. Offer cover for colleagues' annual leave and absence as needed.
  6. Actively participate in safeguarding children, young people, and vulnerable adults in line with Trust guidelines.
  7. Adhere to the Trust’s Equal Opportunities Policy, Health and Safety policies, and infection control practices.
Qualifications and Experience:
  • Full GMC registration and the ability to work as a consultant within an NHS Trust setting.
  • Previous experience in stroke services, with a strong background in acute stroke management.
  • Experience in stroke research and multi-disciplinary team collaboration is beneficial.
  • A commitment to continuous professional development and the ability to work across multiple clinical settings.

I'm currently working with a Trust based in Nottinghamshire that is looking for a Consultant Anaesthetist is required to support the Anaesthesia Department at a prestigious NHS Trust. The role comprises of 10 PA's, with 8.5 PA dedicated to direct clinical care and 1.5 PA for supporting professional activities. This is a NHS fixed term contract, The appointed Consultant will be required to be on-call and live within a reasonable distance of the Trust to attend within thirty minutes when required. Key Responsibilities: Provide high-quality clinical care for a wide variety of surgical, gynaecological, orthopaedic, and obstetric cases. Work alongside fellow consultants, critical care teams, theatre staff, divisional managers, and nursing colleagues to maintain the highest standards of care. Deliver teaching and training to junior staff, medical students, and multidisciplinary team members. Contribute to clinical governance, service development, and departmental management. Ensure active participation in continuing medical education (CME) and stay updated with advancements in anaesthesia practice. Department Overview: The successful candidates will be welcomed into a supportive, well-established anaesthesia department, consisting of 25 substantive consultants and up to 20 Specialist/SAS/Clinical Fellow grade anaesthetists. The department works closely with the East Midlands School of Anaesthesia and actively participates in the education of medical trainees. The Trust is also working towards achieving national accreditation with The Royal College of Anaesthetists, with the goal of completing this process within the next two years. Key Specialities and Services: Elective Surgery: The Trust offers a full range of elective surgeries, including general surgery, orthopaedics, trauma, gynaecology, urology, ENT, maxillofacial, breast surgery, and ophthalmology. Obstetric Anaesthesia: The Trust's obstetric unit handles around 3,600 deliveries per year. The anaesthesia team plays a key role in providing consultant-led care for the unit, including high-risk antenatal anaesthetic assessments. Critical Care: The Critical Care Unit is well-equipped with 13 bed spaces, providing Level 3 and Level 2 care. The unit is currently expanding as part of an ambitious redevelopment project. Acute and Chronic Pain Services: The department offers an excellent pain management service, including pre-operative assessments, acute pain rounds, and chronic pain management. I am currently working with a Trust that is seeking a highly motivated and dedicated Consultant in Acute Medicine to join its team within the Urgent and Emergency Care Division. This is an exciting opportunity for a candidate to make a significant impact on patient care by collaborating closely with the Head of Service for Acute Medicine and the Clinical Chair for Emergency Medicine and Acute Medicine. Position Overview: As a Consultant in Acute Medicine, you will play a key role in enhancing patient management across various units, including the Emergency Admission Unit (EAU), Same Day Emergency Care (SDEC), and Short Stay Unit (SSU). You will have the opportunity to work within a well-supported team comprising of therapists, nursing staff, a frailty team, discharge team, pharmacy, and other support workers, ensuring comprehensive care delivery. Key Areas of Responsibility: Clinical Duties: Lead post-take and consultant ward rounds in EAU/SSU. Provide advice to GPs and offer consultant cover in the SDEC unit. Participate in weekend consultant cover and the General Internal Medicine (GIM) rota. Contribute to service improvements, enhancing collaboration between Acute Medicine and Emergency Medicine. Ensure seamless patient care through close work with the Emergency Department (ED) and other specialties. Support the training and development of medical trainees and clinical development fellows. About the Acute Medicine Department: The Acute Medicine Service covers a wide range of units, including: EAU: 46 beds with 2 enhanced care bays. SSU: 48 beds. SDEC: 24 chairs and 1 trolley space. Discharge Lounge. The team provides outstanding support to all patients, and the department operates a single point of access system where all patients arriving at the front door are streamed in the ED to the appropriate area. The acute medical team handles approximately 50-60 admissions per day, many of which are processed through the Emergency Assessment Unit.

This is a fantastic chance to be part of a well-established team of 11 Acute Medical Consultants and contribute to the ongoing development of an innovative emergency care service. For this position NHS experience is essential for this position.   About the Role: The AMU Consultant will be responsible for delivering hands-on consultant services across both the Acute Medical Unit (AMU) and the Same Day Emergency Care (SDEC) pathways. Serving a population of 350,000, the AMU is located within a purpose-built, 54-bed unit, with an additional surge capacity and a short-stay area. The SDEC service is expanding, providing key services to meet the rising demand for emergency care, both from primary care and the emergency department. In addition, the AMU team is developing virtual acute care pathways, which will be further supported and expanded by this role. Key Responsibilities: Provide direct consultant services to the AMU, SDEC, and in-reach services to the emergency department and direct GP admissions. Undertake Post-Take Ward Rounds and manage the review of all non-specialty patients on AMU. Lead on medical handovers and collaborate with both specialist and emergency department consultants to enhance the management of medical emergencies and support ambulatory pathways. Offer immediate support to junior medical staff in the management of emergency medicine. Participate in teaching and training for junior medical and nurse practitioner staff.
